Comic-Con 2008 - WATCHMEN Promotional Posters

Watchmen cast and crew finished their Q&A panel couple hours ago. Not too much revealing information except for the new footage, which I can't seem to find. Along with the replica of the Owl Ship aka Archie, WATCHMEN posters have been displayed at the convention.

N.E.R.D - FILLMOE

What a great show that was! The crowd was hyped throughout the whole night. Now I'm not saying im behind the crowd 100% because some of them were stupid ass muthafuckas. But More on the postive side, every song was on point...so much fan participation. Pics after the jump.

They started with Anti-Matter, perfect song to begin the night. Once the band walked on stage, every went into a brief cardiac arrest. I mean these fools havent been in SF for a couple of years so it was great to see them and see how they're music evolved. Probably the best part of the night was when they did Run To the Sun and Maybe...great stuff right there. It would have been great to hear You Know what or Yeah You, but meh. This was my 4th time seeing them live, and every time is a different experience. Everyone that left Fillmore, were now Seeing Sounds.

JZA

I bet him that me and Pharrell were gonna wear the same hat....

WATCHMEN Origins

So after watching the Watchmen trailer, I felt as if I owed it to myself to reread the 12 issue comic all over again. My book was torn and bent out of shape, so I went to Borders to buy a new one. After finished reading it for the 50th time, I realized that the Watchmen could go down as a double threat: A LITERARY AND FILM MASTERPIECE

The 1940's was a time full of crime and corruption within the inception of the mafia. New York was now a dangerous place to walk around, and thus The MINUTEMEN were formed. Assembled in 1939, the Minutemen consisted of masked heroes with the only superpowers they possessed were brains and strength.

Members Left To Right:
Silhouette, Silk Spectre I, The Comedian, Hooded Justice, Nite Owl I, Mothman, and Dollarbill.

Captain Metropolis (not pictured)

They went on to fight crime and defend the innocent, but within the moral fiber of the group was anarchy and isolation. In 1940, The Comedian attempted to sexually assault Silk Spectre after a photoshoot. He left the Minutemen shortly after. In 1946, the local newspaper reported that the Silhouette was living with another woman in a lesbian relationship. Six Weeks later, she and her lover were murdered by a former enemy. In 1947, Silk Spectre leaves the group and marries her agent. Minutemen disband in 1949.

1966 spawned a new superhero group by former Minuteman, Captain Metropolis. They wered dubbed as the Crimebusters, who set their goal to solve problems within America while they are at war from another country.

Members Left to Right, Top bottom: Dr.Manhattan, The Comedian, Silk Spectre II, Ozymandias, Captain Metropolis, Nite Owl, and Rorschach.

After one meeting, Crimebusters is no more. 1971, President Nixon asks Dr.Manhattan (only hero with superpowers) for assistance with the Vietnam War with fellow hero, the Comedian. August 3rd, 1977 Senator Keene passes a new proposition known as the Keene Act. The Keene act prohibited the activity from all masked vigilantes. The only exception was the Comedian & Dr. Manhattan who now work for the US Government. This leads to many mask heroes to live normal lives and unprecedented deaths.

Hollis Mason (Nite Owl 1) - Run his own auto repair shop
Daniel Dreiberg (Night Owl II) - Good friend to Hollis Mason, stays at home.
Jon Osterman (Dr. Manhattan) - Resides in Rockerfeller Military Research Center, still affiliated with US Government.
Sally Juspeczyk (Silk Spectre I)- resides in California rest resort.
Laure Juspeczyk (Silk Specre II)- Daughter to the first Silk Spectre, lives with her boyfriend Dr. Manhattan.
Hooded Justice - Disappeared in 1955
Rorschach - Masked vigilante within New York City.
Captain Metropolis - Decapitated in car accident in 1974
Dollar Bill - Gunned down
Adrian Veidt (Ozymandias) - Stopped crimefighting 2 years before the Keene Act to build his own empire, VEIDT Enterprises. He becomes a very successful business man.

Fast forward to 1985, filled with problems left to right. President Richard Nixon manages to remove the 22nd Amendment, which allows him to serve a 5th term as President. U.S. and the Soviet Union are in a heated battle edging towards Nuclear War. With the discovery of Dr. Manhattan's powers, U.S. has an upperhand within chaotic showdown..eventually using him for government uses.

After serving his country for a hefty amount of time, the Comedian returns to New York. October 1985, Edward Blake aka The Comedian is murdered. Rorschach takes it upon himself to solve the mystery. He later concluded that their is conspiracy surfacing..someone is trying to kill masked heroes. While this is happening, the DOOMSDAY CLOCK is near midnight......WORLD WAR III could happen anyday.
